According to the 2018 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey, produced by American Express and NFIB, 104 million shoppers spent a record high of $17.8 billion in 2018. The survey also concludes that more consumers visited local small and independent businesses on the day of the holiday, with 42 percent shopping with family and friends at independently owned businesses. And, 83 percent reported encouraging others to also dine small. Small business owners who are aware of Small Business Saturday, the day will be a part of their promotional calendar. Of those small business owners incorporating Small Business Saturday into their holiday plans, 70% say Small Business Saturday will be helpful in attracting new customers.
